The PoetAt matters to him is the one the media has given him The Poet A name he earned from the written words he leaves behind after he kills that are as dark and mysterious as the reason h A crime that is a poetic challengeA man is killed in Austin Texas in a strange fashion by a killer who leaves no traces The assigned detective mysteriously leaves the force after just three days on the case and cannot be reached The next detective is assigned for one reason her employment records said she ran a poetry club in collegeDetective Samantha Jazz has not only an interesting last name she has an appreciation for and a deep understanding of poetry Her years of decoding the meaning of words help her mind solve the puzzles that are crimes This is a uniue trait in a detective and one necessary against a villain who leaves lines of poetry with his victims Is it randomness that this villain is pitted against this knowledgeable detective or is there something at play From the blurb their meeting of the minds is the destined plan of a killer one years in the making Samantha will wonder why she in particular is this killer’s obsession figuring that out will inevitably lead her to the villain’s identity But will she follow the path he has planned for her The arrogance he exudes in occasionally shared points of view believes she willAs the daughter of the former police captain one recently deceased with a black mark against him Samantha has a lot to prove She’s an intriguing character with a family history that she fights against that she has father and relationship issues is understandable Throughout this exasperating case that taxes her emotionally this detective will evolve personally as she comes to a greater understanding of herself and the type of future she wants This reader loves it when there is character growth As for the villain let’s just say that he is truly poetically twistedAn advanced reading copy was obtained from the author
