This book is not for everyone It is certainly not for anyone under 18 or anyone who has been abused and is easily triggered On the other hand – for those who’ve been abused and like to read empowerment stories – this was a good one if very raw and very difficult to get throughThere is no uestion who the players are in this story Who is good who is evil who is a victim who is a hero Mia is the ultimate victim Sold to her husband by her father to pay his attorney fees Mia spends the first years of her marriage with her husband Prescott having the shit beat out of her on a daily basis Prescott is a nasty sadist he has no interest in his wife’s enjoyment or even in keeping her emotionally or physically healthy she is just meat for his games – brutal anal and vaginal rape and constant brutal beatings This is not BDSM play Prescott is a sadistic abuser straight up As the book is opening Prescott is getting bored with Mia and has decided to start pimping her out first to her boss the principal of the elementary school where she works as a substitute teacher The principal is just as bad as Prescott and is excruciatingly brutal with Mia Mia’s life is one long miseryWhen Mia is not working as a teacher or being violated she has been writing a romance novel and is now trying to get it published but has been mostly receiving rejections from the publishing houses Mia reaches out to a name on a local writers forum group for advice and he responds The two uickly become pen pals and when Mia’s book is accepted for publication she realizes it’s this man she wants to share her joy with – so they meet – and nothing is ever the same for Mia again I understand that Mia’s romance novel was a device for getting Mia and “Daddy” together – but this is the last we are going to hear about Mia’s romance novel that has been accepted for publication Which is a shame – as you’ll see Daddy is going to teach Mia to walk her own journey and it seems to me that a very nice place to start that journey is with your very own published novel but there is a lot going on in this book so this is only a minor uibbleIf Mia’s story were real it would be a story to make you believe that the universe is an active force in our lives – maybe it is I don’t know but if I heard a story like this for real I would have no uestion in my mind How else could this desperately needy woman have just happened upon the absolute perfect man to help her through the hellish nightmare ahead Mia is ready to escape to be free and to heal from the hand that life dealt her James is ready and waiting help her with all of that When Mia asks him what his name is he asks her what she would like to call him and she replies “Daddy” He doesn’t flinch Daddy it is Daddy is retired black ops who has kept himself off the grid yeah that kind of black ops serious and committed Buddhist a sweet imaginative lover with a big cock Again I’m going to ask – how could she have found such a man unless the universe is an active force looking out for each of us And maybe that’s part of the authors’ message Daddy pays attention to Mia’s emotional well being trains her mind to heal from all that abuse watch’s her for signs of PTSD teaches her about being present about the journey of life and he loves her just loves her for the first time

Before I give my review let me start off by saying Mia’s Journey is a dark and twisted tale of domestic and slave violence I do not condone the acts depicted in this novel and know the difference between reality and fiction With that disclaimer out the way while I love to read dark erotica and see how far an author can push and blur the lines between reality and fiction there were just too many holes in Mia’s Journey for me to fully appreciate what the author John Rebell was trying to convey The execution of abuse is depicted well maybe too well however the after effects and the emotional stability of Mia is lost in translation The characters positions good vs bad are easily identifiable but the character of Daddy needs a bit development Daddy is a man Mia meets online He gives her advice on how to self publish a book she is writing A bond is formed between the two via online conversations During their first face to face meeting strange behavior from both parties is displayed Daddy probes into Mia’s mind without success which I thought this was different Is Daddy psychic Who knows as the picture painted regarding his journey in life is left unexplained at this point As Mia relaxes she breaks her mental walls and he tells her she is safe then she breaks down What’s strange is after meeting this man in person for the first time and moments into a conversation she sits in his lap while he sooths her When it’s all said and done Mia leaves with Daddy moves in with him and never willing goes back to her previous lifeMy favorite part of Mia’s Journey was reading the one time I felt Mia’s strength and I yelled “yes” She finally stood up for herself with vigor She had the balls to put fear into her husbandJeffery Lionel Prescott the third His first stopped in mid air at the mention of his full name She said it the same way his mother said it like it was the mark of nobility and privilege I'm only going to tell you this once But if you ever touch me again I’m going to cut your dick off when you sleep and feed it to you when you wake up” He looked at her eyes and saw she meant every word of it In addition I also enjoyed the uotes provided at the top of each chapter from people around the world In my opinion the uotes were strategically placed and gave insight to what was to comeMia’s Journey is a cat in mouse game of Daddy protectingkeeping her safe from her past and Mia’s husband tracking her down and dragging her back to his side or in some instances loaning her out for brutal sexual abuse This book had a lot of scenes with inconsistencies andor the ideas conveyed were not fully actualized So many little things bugged me that it took away from my overall enjoyment I’m glad I read the book to the end but overall Mia’s Journey was not a hit for me If Daddy was flushed out the overuse of the name Daddy and Mia’s childlike actionsuestions were curtailed and if fine details made sense maybe I would have felt a connection to characters and enjoyed this read But as it stands Mia’s Journey left me unfulfilled and desiring a cohesive journey into utopia Mia’s Journey is an extremely dark abuse filled story of a young woman’s journey to find happiness If you are sensitive to rape specifically anal rape and what could happen this is not for you Mia’s Journey gets 25 lackluster
