There were no reviews and this is a new author so I was hesitant to try this out but I got the sample and then I didn't want to stop reading I thought that this was a solid well written debut novel I enjoyed the characters Chris especiallyI wanted to give Chis a hug a few times through this Also I thought the kink was very well written hot and believable although keep in mind this is coming from a reader who knows jack about BDSM in real life just from what I've read and I enjoyed the romance and the ending I think what kept this from being a five star read for me is that several times I remember thinking I wish we had gotten to read about that instead of being given a summary of it happening with things that Chris andor Julian went through Going along with that I also wish that view spoilerthere had been of a focus on Chris' anorexia and overcoming that I don't think I have ever read a mm romance where that is something a character is going through and I don't know much about it since it has never affected myself or anyone I know so it definitely intrigued me We are told that he does go to the doctor to a psychologist and was getting betterI would have preferred to see Chris sit in with his psychologist to get a sense that he was coping with it So that didn't translate into me seeing his health or appearance improving we are even told that he was happy that he hadn't gained any weight at one point but he was better I almost would have rather had of a focus on that then the conflict near the end of the story with Chris' brother hide spoiler

Just when Julian Schwarzenberg accepted that discarding his kinkster skin might be for the best a call from the owner of one of London's BDSM clubs rekindles his need to have someone to call his own to dominate and nurture to his heart’s content Julian was hurt in the past and he’s reluctant to accept a mystery invitation tha. Ravenous is a BDSM romance by first time author Alexandra Blunt While this was better than most books I've read by first time authors it didn't wow meJulian is a Dom and successful lawyer who left the BDSM world 6 months ago after feeling like something was missing in his life He was ready for a sub to love not just dominateChristopher is a sub and college student who was recently kicked out of his home by his homophobic drug addicted brother He is lost and alone and suffers from anorexia It should be noted to those that are irritated when BDSM books treat the practice of BDSM as psychotherapy for a damaged person's psyche that Chris does get professional help for his eating disorder His Dom didn't try to fix him by dominating himRight off the bat Julian is convinced to take Christopher in as a tenant after meeting his for the first time A bit unrealistic but just go with it I did like that the book didn't dawdle instead getting right to the meat and potatoes of the story Eventually Julian and Christopher agree to try a 4 month BDSM contract A slow burn to BDSMsex and romance beginsI enjoyed the first 60% of the book uite a lot but after about the 65% point the book fell into the stereotypical Domsub relationship that irritates me Christopher is a brat and needs to be punished public scenes at a club other Doms laughing at their bratty subs that need to be put in their place subs that meet with other subs to talk about their Doms in a love sick puppy way Julian treated Christopher like a child not a sub There is a big difference in my eyes and that just is NOT my kink Also the descriptions for the penis got a little too much for me love tool and ripe for exampleThis is a classic case of It's not the book it's me I am super super picky about my BDSM but I am uite certain many people will like this This was of a KC WellsSean Michael BDSM as opposed Jane DavittLynn Kelling BDSM There is absolutely nothing wrong with that just my personal preferenceA lot of people will like this one especially fans of KC Wells's Collars and Cuffs series and Sean Michael's Hammer series Those that need Ds on a eual level like AJ Rose's Power Exchange series or Lynn Kelling's The Manse series should skip Ravenous This review is also posted at Gay Book Reviews

RavenousGht the one thing keeping him going is a mirage akin to finding water on Mars But fate finally delivers one effective punch a smokingly hot Dom who is on the hunt for Submissive Mr Right Love may be waiting for Julian and Chris but it will reuire them to take a leap of faith They might just be willing because they're both Ravenou. Excerpt from Alexandra Blunt’s blog post—March 21 2016 For love we suffer; that was my very first rational thought about love One that inspired these lines You grieve over the loss of a long lost loverYou lie restless in the grave of passionEros in the sweet bitterness of winterThe caress of desire into an abyss of sorrow This idea of an unbreakable tie between love and pain stayed with me for many long years It stayed with me until I let go of the fear and understood that love doesn’t just break us; sometimes it’s the one thing keeping us sane our very uniue lifeline And my novel was born out of that very discovery; that’s why Ravenous is all about opening up to love And through love to lifeJulian Schwarzenberg has given up the lifestyle uit his membership to the local club and suppressed his dominant tendencies for months He feels old a throwback to when the Ds lifestyle was serious and a commitment—worth something to those involved—not just the latest fad He receives a call from an old friend the owner of his old club who asks him for a favor She has a sub a man who desperately needs helpChristopher has been made homeless by his older brother He is alone and coping with his eating disorder is no joke He longs to serve but cannot find a Dom who will take him on with all his emotional issuesThis match is not necessarily made in heaven and the two men struggle to reach their HEA as they both have issues to solve Chris is a man rigidly in control of himself and his surroundings; it’s the way he deals with his anorexia Getting Chris to surrender his control of his disease is a major hurdle he must overcome Julian assumes control of every aspect of Chris’s life in an attempt to ease the boy’s burden all the while giving Chris the freedom to laugh and play be affectionate without the risk of angering his MasterI will say that the issue of anorexia could have been handled in a proactive way in this book I realize the Mastersub dynamic has to come into play but I feel that Chris should have had professional help long before he actually did The issue of anorexia is not one a Dom alone can handle The pathway for these men to finding their HEA is a believable one though and it didn’t feel contrived They have to open up to each other eually and that isn’t easy for either manAlexandra Blunt created solid main characters and supported them with secondary characters that added to the storyline and kept it rolling If parts of this novel were redundant to other mainstream works I can forgive the author because other parts were fresh and that can be hard with all the BDSM books on the market I am not going to belabor story arcs or other literary points because this is her first novel Is this a great novel No but it is a really good debut Ravenous is a solid work of fiction and this author shows so much promise You can see how she will mature in the future and hone her craft In a genre that is growing and changing with such leaps and bounds it is encouraging to see a fledging author with such promise; she is and will be a solid addition to the MM universeI would recommend this story and look forward to other books from this author in the futureReviewed by Carrie for The Novel Approach Reviewshttpwwwthenovelapproachreviewsco
